City, State & National Resources
City of Newport News Virginia - The North End Huntington Heights Architectural Review Board
meets the first Thursday of each month at 6:00pm in the City Council Conference Room, 10th floor, City Hall
2400 Washington Avenue.
The Virginia Department of Historic Resources is the State Historic Preservation Office. This state resource
provides information on the National Register of Historic Places & Virginia Landmarks Register as well as other information regarding preservation.
The National Register of Historic Places is the official list of the Nation's historic places worthy of preservation.
There are a variety of preservation links on the site including State Historic Preservation Offices and Preservation Agencies in the National Park Service.
The National Trust for Historic Preservation is a private, nonprofit membership organization dedicated to
saving historic places and revitalizing America's communities. This site contains information regarding the Preservation Magazine, various preservation books,
and resources for historic homeowners including products for your home.
Magazine & Journal Resources
Old House Journal offers resources
for restoring old houses. The site provides recommendations for products and services for homes built before 1950
as well as resources needed for old house restoration projects.
Old House Web publishes how-to stories, features, design ideas and first-person old-house adventures, along with a place
where enthusiasts can swap questions and solutions. There is also a detailed archive of information about products for old homes that includes companies that supply
those products.
